Earlier this week, showrunner Matt Owens and the official ONE PIECE Netflix Instagram account shared a photo of the season 2’s writers:
Among them is Randy Troy, a longtime One Piece fan and WGA screenwriter. Troy is a pillar of the fan community and runs a YouTube channel where he analyzes manga chapters and shares his theories. When the live-action adaptation was announced, he created a video series breaking down how the show could feasibly be made using his background in the film industry. He, alongside other well-known YouTubers in the One Piece fandom like RogersBase, has also been a proponent for the show’s success.
His involvement in ONE PIECE season 2 is surreal, to say the least – a sentiment Troy himself expressed in his repost of the aforementioned announcement:
More news is on the horizon with Netflix’s upcoming fan event Geeked Week ‘23. Exclusive clips, teasers, and breaking news for ONE PIECE and other movies and shows will be live-streamed on Saturday, November 11th at 1 p.m. PST.
