San Diego Comic-Con has once again proven to be the epicenter of thrilling announcements for fans of The Boys. Prime Video has unveiled Vought Rising, a prequel series starring Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash. Both actors will reprise their roles as Soldier Boy and Stormfront, respectively, and will also serve as producers for the series.
The announcement was made during The Boys panel at Comic-Con, with Jensen Ackles appearing in person and Aya Cash joining via video. This reveal is one of the convention’s most significant TV announcements, expanding the beloved universe of The Boys.
Vought Rising, set in the 1950s, promises to be a twisted murder mystery that explores the origins of Vought. The series will delve into the early exploits of Soldier Boy and the diabolical maneuvers of Stormfront, known at that time as Clara Vought. Eric Kripke and Paul Grellong, the creative forces behind The Boys, are leading this new venture.
“We are excited to bring you the next deranged series from the world of The Boys,” said Kripke and Grellong. “We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V.”

This announcement marks the latest expansion in The Boys franchise, whose flagship series has been a massive hit, drawing over 1 billion viewing minutes weekly in the U.S. alone. Other spinoffs include The Boys Presents: Diabolical, the college-set Gen V, and the upcoming The Boys: Mexico, executive produced by Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal.
The Boys, based on the best-selling comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, continues to be a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes—who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians, and as revered as gods—abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good.
The series recently wrapped its fourth season, with Ackles’ Soldier Boy making a surprising return in a finale post-credits scene, setting the stage for more explosive storytelling.
