Gibson Confirms Meeting With WB for Green Lantern Corps Role

It appears that a long-running rumor that could be seen as wishful fancasting may be actually in the process of becoming a reality. Tyrese Gibson has officially confirmed to media source Collider that he has indeed met with Warner Brothers about receiving a role in the Green Lantern Corps film.

The campaigning Gibson starts by saying that he had nothing to do with getting this particular ball rolling, stating that it was fans that took all the initiative before admitting to having a meeting with Warner Brothers.

I’ve already had a couple of meetings at Warner Brothers, so we’ll see what happens. I do believe that there needs to be more black superheroes out there, but that’s not even my motivation. I think I would be the best Green Lantern and based on my fans and supporters that spent around $6 billion in box office receipts, I feel like there’s a fanbase of fans out there waiting to see me put on this green suit and do my things. So I would love to confirm something today but I can’t. We’ll just keep following up.”

John Stewart is one of DC Comics’ most popular and respected superheroes of color having played a pivotal role in the DC Animated Universe Justice League and Justice League Unlimited  series as Green Lantern, acting in the stead of Green Lantern Hal Jordan. It is also rumored that Stewart is set to play a very pivotal role in the Green Lantern Corps. We will wait until further developments into that question. It is very clear though that casting just the right actor for a very important character like John Stewart is going to be a key ingredient in making this movie a success.
