Thor: Ragnarok and Captain Marvel Set To Possibly Film In Australia

Get ready, Marvel geeks! According to new reports, we may be finding out where Thor: Ragnarok and Captain Marvel may be filming for locations.

New reports are claiming that Thor/Thor The Dark World star Chris Hemsworth may be getting a short ride for the next film. The reports are stating that Disney is interested in filming both Thor: Ragnarok in Australia, where Hemsworth currently lives. They also have expressed interest in filming Captain Marvel there as well and while it would be convenient for the Australian actor, Disney’s reasons are far bigger than that.  According to Yahoo Movies, which had reported earlier that “Disney had a “great experience” filming Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales in the land Down Under earlier in the year and would like to begin doing more movies there.

“The big bosses were very pleased throughout the year it took to shoot out here and now they’re looking at bringing out one of the Marvel films,” said one of Pirates’ technical specialists, who spoke anonymously to sources.

The location could also be a way for the studio to cut the costs as Pirates did familiarize Disney with the ideal locations around Australia which saves money on location scouting for the film as they would already know where places are at.

“They were also able to work across a lot of different locations which has saved them scouting for the Marvel movie.”

If Disney and Marvel are truly going to decide that Australia is the perfect place for filming Thor: Ragnarok, production could begin there as early as March 2016. Captain Marvel which does not hit theaters until a full year could likely begin production in 2017.
