Iddo Goldberg Swirls On To Supergirl

A tornado is coming to Supergirl as Iddo Goldberg (Salem, Peaky Blinders) has been casted as Red Tornado on CBS’ Supergirl. According to Warner Bros. Television, Red Tornado is the most advanced android the world has ever seen. Designed by scientist T.O. Morrow for the U.S. Army as the ultimate superweapon, he soon becomes sentient, posing a grave danger to National City — including the people Supergirl cares about most.

It isn’t exactly clear how Goldberg will be playing both Morrow and Red Tornado at this current moment. While the character has often been portrayed as someone imbued with human characteristics in the comics, Morrow is not Red Tornado, he’s the inventor of the android. He is also a villain of the Justice League while Red Tornado is a hero and one of it’s members as well. Red Tornado also served as a mentor to the young team of heroes in Young Justice during the run of longtime Supergirl writer Peter David.

It’s very likely that they two end up merged together due to a scientific accident. It would make sense as it can account for Tornado’s deviant behavior or that Morrow could have modeled the android after him and that he would be doing voice work for the character while physically acting as T.O. Morrow.

In addition to Red Tornado and the previously-announced Livewire and Reactron, Supergirl recently announced that General Sam Lane and his daughter Lucy will appear on the series, along with the Kryptonian villain Non. With that said, Superman’s cousin is going to have her work cut out for her in this first season.

Supergirl is an action-adventure drama based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El, Superman’s (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. Twelve-year-old Kara escaped the doomed planet Krypton with her parents’ help at the same time as the infant Kal-El. Protected and raised on Earth by her foster family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex, and learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin in order to keep her identity a secret. Years later, at 24, Kara lives in National City assisting media mogul and fierce taskmaster Cat Grant. She works alongside her friend and IT technician Winn Schott and famous photographer James Olsen, who Grant just hired away from the Daily Planet to serve as her new art director. However, Kara’s days of keeping her talents a secret are over when Hank Henshaw, head of a super-secret agency where her sister also works, enlists her to help them protect the citizens of National City from sinister threats. Though Kara will need to find a way to manage her newfound empowerment with her very human relationships, her heart soars as she takes to the skies as Supergirl to fight crime.

The Supergirl series premiere airs Monday, October 26 at 8:30 PM. The series will then move to its regular Monday 8 PM slot the following week, November 2.
