Daredevil v Dawn of Justice

It seems rumors of Daredevil releasing earlier this year than it did in 2015 are true. According to ComicBook.com, Daredevil season two will launch on Netflix on March 25, 2016.

This may come as a shock as it it the release date of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, making this debut announcement clear on the war between Marvel and DC Entertainment. Daredevil season one launched the Marvel TV/Netflix partnership to critical acclaim, and releasing the second season, which also introduces the popular fan-favorites Punisher and Elektra to the Marvel Cinematic Universe on the same day that WB is set to begin their own cinematic universe for DC Entertainment’s cast of characters is clearly a deliberate plan.

It will present an interesting challenge to both pieces of comic book based entertainment. Pitting hardcore fans against more casual fans, who opt to watch one over the other. Yes, Daredevil in on Netflix where the user can just sit and binge watch, while Batman v Superman will release in theaters, where fans will have to travel and pay money to see the film. Now, most fans will likely watch both, but whether or not the two will be seen equally will be left to chance.

This isn’t the first instance of these “release date wars” between Marvel and DC. After DC/WB had announced a release date for Batman v Supermanof May 6, 2016, Marvel went ahead and announced the same date for Captain America: Civil War, with the first weekend of May traditionally being the debut of a Marvel-related movie for the last decade or so. DC/WB ended up bumping their release up by five weeks, leaving fans wondering if DC was concerned. But time will tell.

Neither Marvel TV or DC Entertainment had a comment on the matter.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits Thearters March 25, 2016.

Marvel’s Daredevil releases all season 2 episodes on Netflix.

Captain America: Civil War releases May 6, 2016.
