The Panel for upcoming Funimation projects was one of the first panels beginning Thursday at New York City Comic Con. Packing in a lot of excitement at the Main Stage, Funimation made twenty brand new announcements, highlighting four projects that will be released theatrically.
Many of the opening announcements were in regards to celebration, such as the reveal of the eleventh season for One Piece, which was showcased specifically for the 1000th episode. Irina: The Vampire Cosmonaut, Ranking Of Kings, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon – The Second Act, My Senpai Is Annoying, and The Vampire Dies In No Time were all new projects that were briefly shown and drew quite a bit of excitement, specifically for My Senpai Is Annoying as it is an adaption of the ciritcally acclaimed manga of the same name from 2017.
Many new series were also introduced to be arriving in the next few months such as Fuuto PI, Tribe Nine, The Genius Prince’s Guide To Raising A Nation Out Of Debt. Second seasons of The Prince Of Tennis, Log Horizon were announced and started to really get the audience excited, which was followed by the announcement for the long-awaited English Dub of Jujutsu Kaisen newly released onto CrunchyRoll.
Even a few fun products were being showcased during the presentation. Dragon Ball Super X Fila had a quick spotlight, as the shoes were featured on display by the massive Dragon Ball Super site that dominated the upper floor of the convention. Funimation X Copic was being marketed as the newest, and best anime design marker, with many incredible colours and design options available for users to create their own amazing pieces of art.
The most exciting announcements were unquestionably Funimation’s theatrical titles that would be featured over the next few months. Without question the highlight, and main reason people showed was the highlight for My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission, which hits on October 29th. Sing A Bit Of Harmony, Eureka: Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution, and Sword Art Online The Movie – Progressive – Aria Of A Starless Night were all quickly featured during the presentation as well.
The finale of the feature had Guapdad 4000 perform his hit “Foolish” from Marvel’s Shang-Chi: And The Legend Of The Ten Rings, followed by a few of his other singles from his album 1176.
Funimation had the daunting task of being one of the very first panels to kick-off New York Comic-Con following a year-long hiatus due to the pandemic, and they did an incredible job not only showcasing their projects, and talent, but with making their audience feel welcomed.
