NEW YORK, NY – October 12, 2023 – Fans of The Walking Dead universe received a delightful shock today as AMC Networks confirmed at New York Comic Con that Melissa McBride will be reprising her beloved role as “Carol Peletier” in the second season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.
McBride, who initially portrayed “Carol” for a remarkable eleven seasons in the flagship series, The Walking Dead, alongside Norman Reedus (who stars as “Daryl Dixon” in the spin-off), will be a series regular in the eagerly anticipated continuation set in France. This major announcement precedes the show’s Season One finale scheduled for Sunday, October 15, at 9 pm ET/PT on both AMC and AMC+, in which McBride makes a special appearance.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon has experienced unprecedented success on both AMC+ and AMC. It now holds the distinction of being the most-watched premiere in AMC+’s history. Moreover, the series is on track to becoming the most-viewed single series on the platform. As for AMC, it’s already listed as a top 15 cable drama in 2023 for adults aged 25-54. It proudly stands alongside other hit AMC series such as The Walking Dead: Dead City, Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches, Fear the Walking Dead, and Dark Winds.
McBride shared her excitement about the return, stating, “I’ve known there was much more to be told of Carol’s story. I felt her so unsettled when we last saw her, watching her best friend, Daryl, ride away. Whether they’re apart or hopefully together, their stories are rich and deep. I’m ecstatic to continue exploring Carol’s journey. The creative team has done a fantastic job placing these well-known characters in a completely new setting, and I’m fully immersed in these new adventures!”
The second season, titled The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol, is currently in production in France and will premiere in 2024. The star-studded cast includes Reedus, McBride, Clémence Poésy, Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, Laika Blanc Francard, Anne Charrier, Romain Levi, and Eriq Ebouaney. Executive producers for the series are David Zabel, Scott M. Gimple, Reedus, McBride, Greg Nicotero, Angela Kang, Brian Bockrath, Daniel Percival, Jason Richman, and Steve Squillante.
In this gripping narrative, Daryl (portrayed by Reedus) finds himself unexpectedly in France, grappling with the mystery of his arrival. As he ventures across a post-apocalyptic France, Daryl’s main objective is to return home. However, the relationships he forges on his journey could potentially alter his initial plans.
Additionally, for enthusiasts of the expansive The Walking Dead universe, Fear the Walking Dead will resume with the latter half of its eighth and concluding season on Sunday, October 22 at 9 pm ET/8c on both AMC and AMC+. Furthermore, fans can look forward to The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, starring the iconic duo Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira, set to launch in February 2024.
