Excelsior, true believers! Marvel Studios is definitely getting busy with their future plans as they begin talks with Ant-Man director Peyton Reed for an upcoming project!
After less than two weeks after his dates with a few films, Marvel Studios is currently in negotiation with director Peyton Reed to direct the Ant-Man sequel in 2018, Ant-Man and The Wasp.
The negotiations serve as the first of many deals to begin as Marvel Studios begins preparation for Phase Three of the financially successful and widely popular Marvel Cinematic Universe. In addition to the sequel to the recent Marvel film, Marvel Studios has announced three additional untitled films set to come out in 2020.
It was not immediately clear that a sequel for Marvel’s microscopic hero, played by Paul Rudd, would have a slot in Phase Three, but the film and the character seems to have been well received by fans everywhere.
Domestically, the film took in $178 million to become one of the top 10 movies of the year, and it also did solid business overseas. And, in with a big cherry on top, Ant-Man made a huge showing in China over the weekend, earning $43.2 million for an updated worldwide total of $455 million.
There are no writers yet for the sequel. Edgar Wright, Joe Cornish, Adam McKay and Rudd were the credited writers on the first film, and it is all but certain Wright and Cornish will not be returning after their debacle with Marvel Studios.
