Former DC Extended Universe (DCEU) star Ben Affleck, will return as Batman in Warner Bros.’ upcoming The Flash film.
When Ben Affleck was cast as the Dark Knight, many fans were skeptical for many reasons. After a bad history with his role in Daredevil, fans were weary to trust Ben again. However, those fears were laid to rest once Affleck dawned the cape and cowl in Dawn of Justice. Affleck solidified his presence as the new Batman, but all that came crashing down with several failed DC attempts that didn’t quite connect with audiences and a struggle with some personal demons Affleck had to face.
Affleck was poised to co-write and direct the next Batman feature film, however, due to those struggles coupled with the failure of Justice League, Affleck stepped away from the project and the character. A fresh start with Matt Reeves saw a new path for the Dark Knight and thus, Robert Pattison was cast. With the resurgence of massive fan interest and the revival of Zack Snyder’s version of Justice League, Affleck was back in the suit for the Snyder cut. Something fans have been campaigning for for years.
So when will we see Affleck again after the Snyder cut? According to Vanity Fair, Affleck will reprise his role as the Dark Knight for one last film. He will join fellow DC Extended Universe star Ezra Miller, who plays Barry Allen, and Batman Returns star Michael Keaton, who will reprise his role as the Dark Knight for the first time in nearly 30 years.
Please check back for updates as this continues to develop and we have more details.
Directed by Andy Muschietti with a script by Christina Hodson, The Flash stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen. It is scheduled to arrive in theaters on June 3, 2022.
